More than 33 people joined a virtual public meeting to get an update on the project and share their thoughts on the programs and features for the new community centre.

Feedback on the features and programming for the new community centre was collected in an online survey from May 19 to June 6, 2021. The survey received a total of 207 responses, which included feedback from 398 individuals.

The design team is working on the schematic design for the new facility. The plans will be presented at the virtual public meeting in May and will be reviewed by City Planning as part of the Site Plan Approval process.
The new 46,000 sq. ft. Newtonbrook Community Recreation Centre will be located within the base of the Newtonbrook Plaza Redevelopment, M2M community, at Yonge Street and Cummer Avenue in North York. The new community centre will be a two-storey facility accessed from a new street (Olympic Garden Drive), east of Yonge Street and across from a proposed new public park. The community recreation centre will be owned and operated by the City of Toronto and will be open to the public.

As part of the 20-year Facility Master Plan (FMP), City staff are responding to the growing needs of the existing residents in the Newtonbrook community by providing a new community centre. The community centre will offer recreation services to a community that will be experiencing significant growth as a result of new residential developments in the area.
