A significant weather event was declared on Wednesday, September 2. There are several impacts to services following a severe thunderstorm that brought heavy rain, damaging winds and large hail, resulting in flooding, power outages and damaged trees.
The Northbound lanes & a majority of the ramps in the Don Valley Parkway have now reopened. Crews are still performing cleanup operations to restore service to the Southbound DVP ramp to northbound Bayview Avenue.
Due to ongoing flooding and clearing operations, some roadways remain closed to help ensure public safety. Closures include:
The closures also include the Bay, Don Roadway, Eastern, Queen and Dundas on-ramps, as well as the Bayview Avenue on-ramp to the southbound Don Valley Parkway.
Widespread power outages have been reported across the city, impacting several traffic signals. Residents are encouraged to treat these intersections as a four-way stop.
The City and its partners continue to monitor road conditions. Drivers should use caution, avoid closed or flooded areas and never drive through ponding.

Majority of outdoor pools reopened at 10 a.m.; remainder scheduled to reopen after noon due to debris clean up.

City staff are cleaning debris across the waterfront. The City’s 10 supervised beaches are expected to re-open at 10 a.m.; however, some of these beaches are experiencing flooding impacts.
Reminder: it’s unsafe to swim in the lake for at least 48 hours after heavy rain.
Scheduled waste collection may be delayed today as City crews continue cleanup efforts after yesterday’s storm. Please keep bins out until they are collected.

Toronto Island ferry service has returned to regular operations for routes serving Ward’s Island, Centre Island and Hanlan’s Point.
The City has deployed crews to respond to storm-related issues with a focus on keeping residents safe. City crews have been clearing debris and sediment and sweeping roadways since flood waters began receding overnight
Closures will remain in place until cleanup operations are complete and the roadways are determined to be safe for reopening.
The City has received approximately 1,100 service requests and is assessing and responding to hazards across the city.
The City increased outreach and wellness checks for people experiencing homelessness during the storm.
