Participants in this program help to care for natural areas across the city, with teams that meet from spring to fall. As a volunteer, you will:
Email us at greentoronto@toronto.ca if you are interested in volunteering in the Community Stewardship Program. You must be at least 14 years old to participate unless accompanied by a legal guardian. Please contact greentoronto@toronto.ca with any questions or to request accessibility support.
Learn more about the Community Stewardship Program and how to register for the 2025 season by attending the virtual orientation. If you are interested in volunteering but are unable to attend the orientation, please register anyway. We will send you a link to a recording after the orientation, containing information on how to sign up for stewardship sessions.

| Beechwood Wetland |
Beechwood Wetland is located along the Lower Don Trail near Broadview Avenue and O’Connor Drive. This area has the potential for significant improvement to both land and aquatic habitat quality. |
| Cottonwood Flats |
Cottonwood Flats is an old industrial site in the Lower Don. The site has been allowed to renaturalize and currently attracts many birds including ground-nesting songbirds. |
| Crothers Woods |
Crothers Woods is a unique forest habitat with around 10 km of natural trails including specialized mountain biking trails. |
| Don Valley Brick Works Park |
Don Valley Brick Works Park contains a number of different habitat types, including wildflower meadows, woodlands, wetlands and steep cliff faces. |
| Humber Arboretum |
Located near Humber College, this area boasts a pond and wetland habitat that supports a variety of wildlife and impacts water quality in the Humber River. Meeting location is at the south end of Humber College Parking Lot 4. |
| Humber Bay Butterfly Habitat |
Located in Humber Bay Park East, this ecological restoration project provides critical habitat for a variety of native butterfly species, including the Monarch butterfly. |
| Milne Hollow |
Milne Hollow is the northern gateway to the Charles Sauriol Conservation Reserve in the floodplains of the East Don Watershed. |
| Nordheimer Ravine |
The Nordheimer Ravine contains one of the finest stands of old oak trees in the city. |
| Riverdale Park East |
Riverdale Park East includes a naturalized area at the north end of the park. |
An event will be cancelled if there is a 70 per cent or greater chance of thunderstorm or if other hazardous weather arises.
