The Toronto Public Health eChat is a free, confidential and anonymous online service for Toronto residents. Chat online with a Public Health Nurse about our programs and services for:
- Child and Family Health (e.g., pregnancy, breastfeeding, parenting)
- Prenatal and Postpartum Depression and Anxiety
- Injury Prevention
- Mental Health Promotion
- Substance Use (e.g., drugs, tobacco and alcohol)
- School Health
- Healthy Eating
Service Available: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. (excludes statutory holidays).

The Terms of Use Agreement set out below contains the terms and conditions which govern your use of the eChat Service (the Website). Carefully read the Terms of Use Agreement before proceeding.
Agreeing to the Terms of Use Agreement is required for further use of, and access to, the Website. The City of Toronto’s Toronto Public Health eChat service (the Service”) allows users to chat on–line with a public health nurse regarding programs and services provided by Toronto Public Health. This Service is not appropriate for users in crisis situations. If users are experiencing a medical emergency, they must call 9-1-1 immediately or visit their closest hospital emergency room. The public health nurse will not diagnose users’ illnesses or provide any treatment recommendations. Users may call or may be referred to Health Connect Ontario at 8-1-1 for non-emergency medical advice.
- Accuracy of Information
Every effort is made to ensure the information provided by the Service is accurate, current and reliable.
- Residents of Toronto
The Service is for residents of Toronto, Ontario only. If you reside outside of Toronto we cannot provide the Service to you.
- Confidential Information
If you use the Service, you may provide Toronto Public Health with personal health information. Your acceptance of these Terms and Conditions is your consent to such information being collected and used by Toronto Public Health. Toronto Public Health collects this information and uses it in order to respond to your inquiries and to assure quality service. Toronto Public Health is governed by privacy legislation. Our Information Practices statement is available online. We endeavour to protect your privacy at all times, however, communications over the internet require the use of means that are beyond the control of Toronto Public Health and may be subject to interception or loss. - Transcripts
The Toronto Public Health eChat Service is an anonymous service. Copies of transcripts cannot be provided by Toronto Public Health after the counselling session has been terminated. Clients who would like to keep a copy of their eChat session must make a copy themselves, by either downloading the transcript or by printing it themselves. Transcripts will not be printed for, mailed or emailed to clients by Toronto Public Health under any circumstances.
