Seeking Council's approval of the application, to be submitted by the 2008 Toronto Olympic Bid Corporation (TO-Bid)
and the Canadian Olympic Association (COA), to have the City of Toronto selected by the International Olympic
Committee (IOC) as the host City for the 2008 Olympic and Paralympic Games and associated cultural festival.

1a. 2008 TORONTO OLYMPIC BID - TTC ISSUES

Advising that the Toronto Transit Commission at its meeting held on February 9, 2000, received the presentation from Mr.
W. Dawson, Superintendent, Service Planning and Monitoring, Toronto Transit Commission, entitled, "2008 Toronto
Olympic Bid - TTC Issues"; and that the Toronto Transit Commission approved the following resolutions:
(1) that the Toronto Transit Commission recommend that:
(a) all TTC Capital costs must be covered:
(i) in co-operation with the Federal and Provincial Governments;
(ii) added platform at Union Station;
(iii) accelerated elevator program; and
(iv) accelerated long-term capital program for fleet acquisition; and
(b) all TTC Operating costs must be covered:
(i) TO Bid budget covers expected operating costs; and
(ii) any excess costs the responsibility of City;
(2) that the City ensure, that as part of the Olympic Bid process, the Transportation Plan be fully accessible and that any
necessary capital projects to be undertaken by the Toronto Transit Commission are appropriately funded;
(3) that the Commission formally request an opportunity to give the aforementioned presentation by Mr. Dawson to the
Economic Development and Parks Committee at its special meeting on Thursday, February 17, 2000 concerning the
2008 Olympic Bid.
