Summary

The purpose of this report is to present the results of an investigation for the installation of an all-way stop control at the intersection of Burrard Road and Caulfield Road.  A staff assessment has determined that the criteria for the installation of an all-way stop for this location have not been achieved.  Specifically, the minimum warrant requirements are not met at this intersection due to the low traffic volumes entering from the minor streets and the good safety record.

Recommendations

Toronto Building recommends that Etobicoke York Community Council give consideration to this demolition application and the following options:

 

a)            Refuse the application to demolish the subject one-storey single family dwelling because there is no permit application to replace the buildings on the site; or,

 

b)            Approve the application to demolish the subject one-storey single family dwelling without conditions; or

 

c)            Approve the application to demolish the subject one-storey residential building with the following conditions:

 

i.             that a construction fence be erected in accordance with the provisions of the Municipal Code, Chapter 363, Article III, if deemed appropriate by the Chief Building Official;

 

ii.            that the demolition of the building be in strict adherence with the recommendations issued on November 23, 2009 by the Healthy Environments ;

 

iii.           that all debris and rubble be removed immediately after demolition;

 

iv.           that sod be laid on the site and be maintained free of garbage and weeds, in accordance with the Municipal Code Chapter 623-5, and 629-10, paragraph B; and

 

v.            that any holes on the property are backfilled with clean fill.

Summary

On October 6, 2009, Toronto Building received a demolition permit application to demolish a one storey mixed-use structure located at 1678 Jane St. Toronto Building has not received a building permit application to replace the building to be demolished as of this date.

Summary

The purpose of this report is to obtain approval for the installation of traffic control signals at the intersection of Islington Avenue and Advance Road.

 

The installation of traffic control signals is justified as the Traffic Control Signal Warrant requirements are achieved.  The installation of traffic control signals will provide safe and convenient access for vehicles and pedestrians, and will not compromise the integrity of the arterial road network.

Summary

This report summarizes the results of the traffic calming survey undertaken between November 6 and December 7, 2009, for owners and occupants on Bicknell Avenue, between Rogers Road and Eglinton Avenue West.  The survey exhibits a response rate of just 42 per cent.  As a result, installing speed humps is not recommended since the minimum survey response rate greater than 50 per cent is not achieved.

Financial Impact

Adopting this report has no financial impact; however, if Community Council decides to approve installing speed humps on Bicknell Avenue, between Rogers Road and Eglinton Avenue West, the following financial impact results:

 

1.            The estimated cost for installing approximately seven speed humps will be $21,000.00.  This will be accommodated within funds allocated by City Council as part of the Transportation Capital Budget, subject to competing priorities and funding availability.

4.            That all costs associated with the road closings, including the costs of restoring and cleaning the streets following each event, as well as installing/removing temporary parking restrictions, shall be completed by the Royal Canadian Golf Association to the satisfaction of the Transportation Services Division, and at no cost to the City.

The purpose of this report is to present the Traffic Management Plan prepared by IBI Group on behalf of the Royal Canadian Golf Association (RCGA), relating to the full closure of Islington Avenue, between Eglinton Avenue West and The Kingsway, for a period up to three weeks, from Saturday, July 10, 2010, to Friday, July 30, 2010.
