PayIt was founded in 2013 with a mission to simplify government. Its goal is to empower city governments to collect and disburse critical government services, such as property taxes and utility payments.

PayIt offers a proven cloud-based platform with innovative features, enabling payment through a personalized digital experience for citizens. It serves over 80 million residents annually across North America.

The City of Toronto has partnered with PayIt to create MyToronto Pay. We are helping to evolve the PayIt platform based on collaboration with Toronto residents, as well as staff in Revenue Services, Customer Experience, and Technology Services.

The PayIt agreement gives the City an opportunity to enter into a cost-effective and competitive commercial relationship that allows the City to move forward with digitizing services end-to-end. The digital payment options provide an improved customer experience to businesses and residents. For example, a typical Toronto family must currently access more than ten separate channels and portals to manage over 20 residential services and payments throughout the year. Over time, the partnership with PayIt is intended to provide an integrated and simplified experience for residents making payments.

The City will always offer a free, convenient, and accessible payment option to customers through electronic funds transfer. People who choose to make payments via credit or debit cards are charged an industry processing fee of 2.35 per cent and 1.5 per cent respectively for each transaction collected by PayIt.
