The Woodside Square Planning Review was initiated in Fall 2019. The landowner of Woodside Square has expressed a desire to explore additional development opportunities for the site, including new housing and parkland. The mall is proposed to be maintained. The planning review will evaluate the appropriateness of permitting additional land uses on the site. The planning review will also establish the policy framework to guide any future redevelopment on the site.

Virtual Community Consultation, May 12, 2021

The City hosted a virtual community consultation meeting on Wednesday, May 12, 2021. The purpose of the meeting was to provide information about the Planning Review process, to discuss details of the Zoning By-law Amendment application submitted by the applicant for the redevelopment of the Woodside Square Mall site, and seek feedback from the public.
The community consultation meeting consisted of presentations by both the City of Toronto staff and the applicant’s consultant team, followed by a question & answer session.

Local Advisory Group Meeting #1

The Local Advisory Group (LAG) was formed to provide city staff with feedback, guidance and advice and to ensure that the opinions and ideas of local community members are included in the planning review process. The group membership is composed of 12 volunteer residents, local business owners and employees, and representatives of non-profit community organizations.

The City held a community consultation meeting where participants learned about the planning review, asked questions, and shared comments. The meeting was attended by approximately 250 people.

On May 11, 2022, City Council considered a proposals staff report outlining the draft policy directions identified as part of the Woodside Square Planning Review. City Council directed staff to use the draft Woodside Square Policy Directions contained in the report as the basis for further stakeholder and public consultation, and that any rezoning applications within the Woodside Square Lands be considered and reviewed in the context of the draft policy directions.

On September 15, 2020, Scarborough Community Council will consider a preliminary staff report on the zoning by-law amendment application (development proposal). The item will be considered by City Council on September 30, 2020.
